The 2010 edition of the Merdeka Games had been successfully organised on 24 & 31 July 2010 respectively consistent with the past tradition where the Embassy of Malaysia through its Sports & Welfare Club would mark the celebration of Merdeka by organising activities to bring together Malaysians residing in Bangkok.

 

2.         The Games started off with bowling competition which was held at Major Bowl at Central Rama III Mall on 24 July 2010 which attracted more than 30 participations from fellow Malaysians. The winners walked away with hampers which will be presented to them at a later date.

 

3.                  Meanwhile, badminton competition which was held on 31 July 2010 also attracted a good number of participation from ‘’kaki-kaki badminton’’ who in the past months have been sparring with players from the Embassy on weekly basis at the usual meeting place, namely, the Multipurpose Hall of the Embassy. Some upset results were recorded but as anticipated, the above-referred kaki managed to sweep the top prizes. Adding colours to the atmosphere was the presence of some Home-based staff who seized the opportunity to set up booths selling Malaysian delicacies such as nasi lemak, mee hoon, nasi campur, karipap, kuih bakar, pulut sambal etc.  

 

4.         The organisation of such events was held with the aim of bringing Malaysians in Bangkok together and consistent with the ongoing efforts by the Embassy to continue engaging them at all times.
