OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF THAI MUSLIM TELEVISION (TMTV) & COURTESY CALL BY THE FOUNDATION OF ISLAMIC CENTRE, 23 & 25 JULY 2011
The Embassy of Malaysia was invited by the management of Thai Muslim TV to attend the official launching of the satellite television which was held at Sassanupathum School on 23 July 2011. The event was presided over by representatives from the Syeikhul Islam Office and some members of the diplomatic corps from the Muslim countries. Also present were members from the Muslim fraternity in Thailand who came in droves to show their support to TMTV. The British Ambassador who spoke on behalf of the diplomatic corps congratulated the entire team of TMTV for the job well done and expressed his hope that the TV station will do well in the future especially on its grand plan to expand its coverage to other countries.
In a different event, the Embassy received a delegation of 6 members from the Foundation of Islamic Centre in Bangkok led by Mr. Narong Wongsumitr who paid a courtesy call on Dato’ Nazirah Hussain who assumed her duty as an Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Thailand about two months earlier. Various issues of mutual concern were discussed ranging from education to welfare and the possible greater business networking especially for halal product entrepreneurs to future collaboration within the framework of ASEAN. The meeting was very fruitful as both sides, in principle, agreed that there were many areas of cooperation to be ventured in the future for the benefit of the ummah.
