OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY OF RHB BANK (BANGKOK BRANCH), 1 JUNE 2011
The sole branch of RHB Bank in Thailand was officially opened on 1 June 2011 by Ms. Pimpa Thawarayut, Assistant Governor of the Bank of Thailand. The event was also presided over by Ambassador Dato’ Nazirah Hussain, Malaysian Ambassador-designate to Thailand and a score of other VIPs such as Tan Sri Azlan Zainol and Dato’ Mohamed Khadar Merican, representing the top management of RHB Bank. A good numbers of Malaysian businessmen in Thailand were also invited to the said event.
The event was preceded by a simple ribbon-cutting ceremony at the bank premises before the attendees moved to the adjacent building for a more formal function which included the delivery of the welcoming speech by Tan Sri Azlan Zainol. More than 100 invitees were present in that simple ceremony. RHB Bank aspired to increase its number of branches to three within the next couple of years subject to the approval from the Central Bank of Thailand. The target is set owing to the growing market, the size of the economy as well as the competitive nature of the banking industry.
