ONE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHT GALA DINNER CO-HOSTED BY THE EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA 24 NOVEMBER 2010
The Embassy of Malaysia together with the Thai Muslim Housewife Foundation co-hosted a charitable gala dinner with the theme “One Thousand and One Night” at the Dusit Thani Hotel on 24 November 2010. The dinner was presided over by HRH Princess Soamsavali.
The event which has been organized annually by the Thai Muslim Housewife Foundation in collaboration with foreign Embassies is aimed at providing assistance to under-privileged children in Thailand including those in Southern Thailand. In supporting the event, the Embassy had bought a number of seats and even ‘contributed’ two models to parade Malay traditional dress at the said event. In addition, a Sape player from Sarawak who happened to be in Bangkok for tourism promotional activities also entertained the audience with the unique traditional music peculiar to Bumi Kenyalang.
Essentially, the event accorded the Embassy to raise its image by being directly involved in charitable activity and the opportunity was also seized to promote cultural activities to local audience.
