WORKING VISIT OF THE PRIME MINISTER OF THAILAND,
H.E. SRETTHA THAVISIN TO MALAYSIA
11th – 12th OCTOBER 2023
Prime Minister of Thailand, H.E. Srettha Thavisin will pay a Working Visit to Malaysia from 11th to 12th October 2023. This will be his inaugural visit after being sworn in as the Prime Minister of Thailand on 5th September 2023. H.E. Srettha Thavisin will be accompanied by senior officials of the Government of Thailand.
During the visit, H.E. Srettha Thavisin is scheduled to have an audience with His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al- Musta’in Billah at the Istana Negara on 11th October 2023.
On the same day, H.E. Srettha Thavisin will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Both leaders are expected to review the progress of bilateral relations, especially cooperation in trade, investment and border security as well as exploring new areas of cooperation such as cyber security, green and digital economy. Both leaders are also expected to exchange views on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is confident that this Working Visit will further strengthen the already established good relations between the two countries which are also close neighbours and partners in ASEAN. In 2022, Thailand was Malaysia’s 7th largest trading partner globally and the 3rd largest among the ASEAN Member States, with total trade amounting to RM122.03 billion (USD 27.75 billion), an increase of 17.9 percent compared to RM97.55 billion (USD23.54 billion) in 2021.
