SEMINAR ON PROVIDING THE SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONALISATION IN UNIVERSITY IN ASEAN GREEN LAKE RESORT, CHIANG MAI, 23 SEPTEMBER 2011

The Naresuan University (NU) in Phitsanulok had once again extended an invitation to the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok to participate in its programme where this time around, a group of Deans and Assistant Deans were brought together to brainstorm specifically on the issue of internationalisation. About 30 of them were involved in the session.

Other than a representative from the Embassy of Malaysia, three other speakers from the Embassy of Indonesia and Mahidol University were also invited to brief the group on various aspects of internationalisation of education. The representatives from the Embassies of Malaysia and Indonesia were requested to speak on the initiatives to internationalise higher education in their respective country. Meanwhile, the speakers from Mahidol University were requested to speak on best practices and world university ranking.

3.            The seminar went very well and the organiser was very pleased with the presentation made by all speakers. NU is seen as very active in engaging various parties especially in internationalising the university where it aspires to achieve the research university status by 2015.

4.            The Embassy certainly welcomes the above invitation and would be more than willing to participate and promote Malaysia’s ideas and experience vis-à-vis the blueprint outlined in the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (NHESP) which is now in its second phase where the ultimate aim of the plan is to bring Malaysian education brand to the world and for Malaysia to be recognised as education hub by 2020.
