VISIT BY THE THAI SENATE COMMITTEE ON ECONOMICS, COMMERCE & INDUSTRY TO THE EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA, BANGKOK

A 10-member delegation from the Thai Senate Committee on Economics, Commerce and Industry led by its Chairman, Senator Dr. Vitthaya Inala visited the Embassy of Malaysia on 19 August 2010 with a view of having discussion with Ambassador Dato’ Husni Zai Yaacob on various aspects of economic policies and management by Malaysia.
 
2.         Throughout the discussions which lasted almost an hour and a half, a host of issues from New Economic Model, Government Transformation Programme, 1Malaysia and other relevant issues such as cooperation in education and business opportunities and partnerships were discussed in great length. The discussion was preceded by a brief explanation on some of the key economic performances by Malaysia before the floor was opened for Q&A. The delegation from the Thai Senate seized the opportunity to put forward no less than 10 questions related to the topics above.
 
3.                  By and large, the discussions were very lively with lots of thought provoking questions were asked and they were responded with answers from the Embassy. More importantly, the session had accorded the Embassy with the opportunity to engage the important committee from the Thai Senate and the prospect to enhance bilateral cooperation and networking with the host country.
