VISIT BY YB DATO’ SRI ANIFAH HJ. AMAN TO THE EMBASSY, 11 APRIL 2011

In conjunction with the recently concluded Special Informal ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on East Asia Summit which was held in Bangkok on 11 April 2011, YB Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj. Aman had seized the opportunity to visit the Embassy’s complex and had a short meeting with all staff.

In welcoming the presence of YB Dato’ Sri Anifah, Tn. Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman as the Charge d’Affaires a..i underscored the importance of such rare visit to be undertaken by YB Minister himself. Since assuming the portfolio, YB Dato’ Sri Anifah had made countless visits to Thailand for various official meetings but never really had the opportunity to stop by at the Embassy to meet with the staff and see for himself the overall facilities available at the 4-acre Chancery complex.

In the much awaited amanat, YB Dato’ Sri Anifah reminded all officers and staff to strive for excellence in their respective field and fulfill the responsibility entrusted on them as the representatives of the Government of Malaysia in Thailand. Given the ever increasing level of competition, there is no room for mistakes in discharging the said responsibility. Rewards based on performance would be implemented in encouraging all officers notwithstanding their level of seniority to deliver their best performance for the benefit of the Ministry consistent with the motto of the Government - Peoples First, Performance Now. Last but not least, YB Minister reminded all staff to take a great care of their personal health as it was an element which was often neglected by many of us but in reality played a very important factor in ensuring that we could discharge our duties efficiently and effectively.

During the short visit, YB Dato’ Sri Anifah was taken around to inspect various facilities such as the multi-purpose hall, Official Residence of the Ambassador and the Exhibition Hall. The visit was indeed a timely one as the last visit undertaken by Malaysian Foreign Minister was held in June 2008 and more importantly the visit was fully capitalised to ensure that the strong message to work harder by none other than the Minister himself was directly relayed to all.
