JOINT IFTAR PROGRAMME WITH SULTAN SULAIMAN MOSQUE IN SONGKHLA
The Home-Based Staffs of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla organized an iftar (break fasting) gathering at the Sultan Sulaiman Mosque in Songkhla on 15 July 2014.
The event was jointly organized with the Muslim community around the mosque. Approximately 50 people attended the iftar.
According to Imam Hanafi, Chairman of the mosque’s committee, Sultan Sulaiman Mosque was built around 15 years ago. It serves as a place of worship and community centre to the locals.
The mosque is still undergoing renovation and upgrading works have stalled due to lack of financial support.
Imam Hanafi hopes to get more funds to cover the land dues and complete the pending works.
The iftar programme was held to cherish the true spirit of Ramadhan and above all managed to bring the Consulate General of Malaysia closer to the local community.
