Announcement: Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) March 18th, 2020 to December 31st, 2020

In an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, effective from 24 July 2020 to 31 December 2020. The Government of Malaysia has decided that any person entering Malaysia from abroad will be subjected to a compulsory quarantine at any of the Quarantine Stations designated by the Government of Malaysia, in line with the provisions of Section 15 (1) Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

Any person entering Malaysia through the International Entry Point (PMA) will bear the full quarantine costs. For any other inquiries or request related to the quarantine procedures and processes in Malaysia, please contact National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) at for further clarification.

All individuals under jurisdiction of Consulate General of Malaysia, Los Angeles that wish to travel to Malaysia need to obtain a “Permission to Travel to Malaysia” letter. Application must be submitted at least three days before the date of departure.

The letter of approval from the Consulate General must be presented during the flight check-in process. Failure to present this letter may result in the person being denied permission to board the aircraft.

Permission to Travel to Malaysia Checklist


  1. Malaysian Citizen

Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity (LoU)

Travel Documents (ticket/ boarding pass)

Valid Identification Documents (Passport or MyKad)


  1. Non-Citizen

At this moment foreign citizen are not allowed to enter Malaysia until the RMCO is lifted up by the Government of Malaysia. You may make an appeal to the Director-General of Malaysia at

Letter of Undertaking and Indemnity (LoU)

Valid Identification Documents (Passport or MyKad)

Scan the LoU and send it to cc: please attach the following documents:

  • Ticket to Malaysia
  • Photocopy of passport (particular page only)
  • Permission from the Director General Immigration to enter Malaysia (Non-Malaysian Passport Holder


Note: Subject to the approval, the Consulate General will then issue the Letter of Permission to Travel to Malaysia by e-mail to the applicant. The letter will be valid for a period of one (1) month from the date of issue.
