Visa Application Guidelines
Important Information
- American citizens do not require a visa to visit Malaysia for business or social reasons if their stay in Malaysia is 90 days or less.
Please refer to the Quick Facts before traveling to Malaysia. - List of foreign nationals who require Visa to enter Malaysia can be found here.
- All foreign travelers are required to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within three (3) days prior to arrival. The MDAC is not a visa; it is a facilitation measure to expedite entry procedures.
A. Required Documents
- Completed and signed Visa Application Form (IM.47)
- Applicant’s original passport (valid for at least six months) and a copy of the particulars/first page
- Copy of applicant’s Permanent Resident Card or valid U.S. visa
Note: B1/B2 tourist visas are not accepted - One (1) prepaid Priority Mail Express Flat Rate Envelope (USD 33.40) from the U.S. Postal Service for return postage
- One (1) recent U.S. passport-sized photograph (2x2 inches)
- Copy of confirmed flight itinerary showing arrival and departure dates to and from Malaysia
- Copy of hotel reservation or proof of accommodation in Malaysia
- Copy of employment letter (or other proof of employment / proof of school enrollment)
B. Fees
Payment must be made by Cashier’s Check or Money Order, payable to “Consulate General of Malaysia”.
- USD 18.00 – India Passport
- USD 14.00 – Taiwan Passport
- USD 3.00 – United States of America Passport
- USD 10.00 – China Passport
- USD 10.00 – U.S. Travel Document
- USD 5.00 – Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Indonesia, Sri Lanka
- USD 10.00 – All other nationalities
- USD 13.00 – Card IMM.108C
Mail-In Applications
Both mail and in-person applications are permitted. Please send the complete package to:

C. Notes
- Visa applications must be submitted at least two (2) weeks prior to travel.
- Processing time is three (3) to five (5) business days after submission.
- Visa applications for business travel may be submitted through a visa service agency.
- Holders of Malaysian visas remain subject to immigration control at the point of entry. Entry into Malaysia is not guaranteed.
- Failure to comply with requirements will delay processing.
- The Consulate General shall not be held responsible for delays affecting travel arrangements.
