8 August 2013 (Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebrations)
The Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations held Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations on Thursday, 8 August 2013 (in conjunction with 1 Syawal 1434H). The event began with Aidilfitri prayers by over 100 officers, staff and Malaysian citizens, led by Senior Trade Commissioner Mr. Muhd. Sharulmiza Zakaria. This was followed by the Hari Raya Aidilfitri reception, hosted by H.E. Datuk Hussein Haniff, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations. Over 400 guests attended, including Malaysian staff of the UN, members of the Malaysia Association of America and other Malaysians living and studying in New York and its surroundings. The guests were feted with a wide range of Malaysian cuisine, including nasi tomato, kurma daging, ayam masak merah, rendang daging, ayam krutuk, kari kambing, dalca sayur, jelatah mentah, nasi impit and lemang, mee rebus, chicken sate and daging, laksa, biskut raya, kek lapis and fruits.
