STATEMENT : INFORMAL INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PACT FOR THE FUTURE
STATEMENT BY
H.E. AMBASSADOR AHMAD FAISAL MUHAMAD
PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MALAYSIA TO THE UNITED NATIONS
AT THE INFORMAL INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PACT FOR THE FUTURE
26 MARCH 2025, TRUSTEESHIP COUNCIL CHAMBER
Mr. President,
Thank you for convening this important Meeting. We also thank all briefers for their insights. Malaysia aligns itself with the statement delivered by Indonesia on behalf of ASEAN.
Here, we wish to highlight a few key points:
First, financial mobilization is a crucial element for the successful implementation of the Pact, and the 2030 Agenda. As many developing nations face fiscal constraints, it is essential that we look beyond traditional financing mechanisms and explore new, innovative ways to mobilize the necessary funding. Malaysia has already taken strides by exploring sustainable investment models such as green bonds and public-private partnerships to attract the necessary capital to fund initiatives in clean energy, climate resilience, digital transformation and sustainable development.
Second, Malaysia underlines the importance of sharing best practices, lessons learned, and innovative solutions. At the national level, Malaysia has long emphasized the importance of building local capacities through education, research, and innovation. We recognize that our greatest resource is human capital, and we continue to invest in training and empowering our citizens to become active participants in the development process.
Finally, while the SDGs are universal, the path to achieving them is far from one-size-fits-all. Countries in different regions face unique challenges and opportunities. Therefore, the need for tailored, context-specific solutions- often through regional collaboration — is critical to ensure that no one is left behind. As Chair of ASEAN this year, Malaysia’s commitment to the implementation of the Pact and the 2030 Agenda are clearly illustrated by our strong leadership in regional mechanisms and initiatives within the ASEAN framework.
Mr. President,
Malaysia will continue to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaborate with all partners to ensure that the Pact for the Future and the SDGs, are realized in a way that benefits current and future generations.
Thank you.
