H.E. DATO’ DR. AHMAD FAISAL BIN MUHAMAD
Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations
H.E. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faisal bin Muhamad presented his credentials to the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on 29 March 2023.
Prior to his appointment, Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faisal served as the Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the Office of the United Nations and Other International Organisations in Geneva from September 2019 to March 2023. He was previously the Director-General of the Department of Policy Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, the Deputy Secretary-General (special tasks) at the Ministry, and the International Affairs Advisor in the Prime Minister’s office.
Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faisal joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March 1994 as a career diplomat. He served as Malaysia’s Ambassador to Myanmar from September 2011 to July 2014, and as the Deputy High Commissioner at Malaysia’s High Commission in Singapore from December 2009 to August 2011.
Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faisal was born on 24 May 1970 in Kelantan, Malaysia. He received his tertiary education in the United Kingdom and has a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics.
