UNGA 2025

STATEMENT FOR YB FOREIGN MINISTER

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF SIX ON PALESTINE

23 SEPTEMBER 2025

CONFERENCE ROOM 11, UN HEADQUARTERS

Mr. Secretary-General,

Excellencies,

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Mr. Chairman,

  1. Malaysia speaks today with a voice of outrage and a voice of conscience. For nearly two years, the world has stood by in silence as Gaza has been strangled under an illegal Israeli Zionist blockade. The illegal siege of Gaza is not a tragedy of circumstance. It is the deliberate cruelty of occupation.

  1. We unequivocally demand that the Israeli Zionist regime cease the killings, stop the forced displacement, and lift the blockade without delay. To weaponise food and medicine, to use starvation as a tool of war, is nothing less than barbaric.

  1. The dismantling of UNRWA by the Israel Zionist regime and the creation of the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” have only intensified the stranglehold on the Palestinian people. Gaza is being starved, not served.

  1. It is deeply concerning that we are confronted with yet another setback from the UN Security Council, which has failed to pass a crucial resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire and the urgent provision of essential services and humanitarian aid in Gaza. This inability to secure a decisive resolution underscores the ongoing challenges we face in effectively addressing the critical humanitarian catastrophe situation in Gaza.

Mr Chairman,

  1. Malaysia joins other OIC Member States in condemning the Israeli Zionist regime’s recent attack on fellow OIC Member State, Qatar. The attack only proves the Israeli Zionist regime’s arrogant contempt for peace and diplomacy.

  1. This also proves, once again, that no matter how many attempts have been made to mediate the conflict with sincerity, they are only met with Israel’s absolute refusal to comply.

  1. The Israeli Zionist regime's relentless actions that threaten global security and inflict suffering on countless lives cannot be overlooked any longer.

  1. The impunity of the Israeli Zionist regime, marked by its unyielding crimes against humanity and a blatant disregard for international law, demands accountability. At the same time, punitive actions through diplomatic and economic pressures on the Israeli Zionist regime must continue.

  1. To this end, Malaysia's position remains clear and unwavering—we urge the establishment of a sovereign and independent State of Palestine without delay and without conditions.

  1. We welcome countries that have recently announced their readiness to recognise the State of Palestine, as this is a key step to end Israel’s illegal occupation.

  1. Even more important, Palestine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and the right of return of millions of Palestinian refugees must be granted.

  1. In these endeavours, Malaysia  commends the efforts and advocacy in support of the Palestinian cause undertaken by OIC Member States at the UN Security Council, during their tenure as non-permanent members.

Mr Chairman,

  1. Let us be clear, our solidarity with the Palestinians should not be negotiable, conditional, nor temporary. It is absolute.

  1. We must stand by their inalienable right to self-determination, and to the establishment of an independent, sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its rightful capital.

Thank you.
