5th ASEAN Agriculture Attaches Meeting, Washington, D.C., 2 June 2010.

 

 
The Malaysian Embassy's Agricultural Counselor Office hosted the 5th ASEAN Agriculture Attaches Meeting at the Chancery on 2 June 2010. The purpose of the meeting was to enhance the good working relationship between all the ASEAN Agricultural Attaches based in Washington DC and also serve as an avenue to discuss and exchange views on the US agricultural policies.  This is the second time Malaysia has hosted the AAA meeting since its inception in March 2009.
 
His Excellency Dato’ Sri Dr. Jamaluddin Jarjis, Ambassador of Malaysia delivered welcoming remarks to all the ASEAN Agriculture Attaches at the luncheon hosted before the meeting. In his speech, H.E Ambassador congratulated the AAA members for forming this group and fully supported the initiatives taken to discuss agricultural issues amongst ASEAN members.
 
During this meeting, Malaysia invited USDA–APHIS’s Director of Quarantine Policy, Analysis and Support Staff, Mr. William E. Thomas to give a presentation on Future Strategies for Plant Protection in the United States and APHIS roles & function in pre-clearance program for tropical fruits market access.
