ART TREASURES FROM THE EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA

AND BATIK FASHION SHOW

The Chargé d’Affaires of Malaysia, Mr. Ilango Karuppannan hosted the “Art Treausures from the Embassy of Malaysia” reception on 13 November 2008. The programme began with welcoming remarks by CDA a.i and a 30 minute presentation by Ms. Ariana Rabindranath on Malaysian Art. The remarks of CDA a.i. can be read here.

More than 260 guests attended the performance mainly from the diplomatic corps, staffs from the US State Department, Asia Society, members of the Malaysia-America Society and also Washingtonians art enthusiasts.

Following the art exhibition a Batik Fashion show from the collections of Inai Batik, Anggun Collection and Nazleen Noor. From the feedback that was received, this was a new and refreshing showcase by the Embassy of Malaysia. The Batik Fashion Show featuring the spring and summer collection for 2009 dazzled the guests. It was certainly a memorable night.
