ASEAN WOMEN'S CIRCLE SHOWCASES "CELEBRATING FRIENDSHIPS AND DIVERSITIES", 13 JUNE 2012
On 13 June 2012, the Embassy of Malaysia was the venue for the ASEAN Women's Circle (AWC) programme entitled "Celebrating Friendships and Diversities". The event was co-organized by the Embassies of Laos, Cambodia, Singapore and Malaysia. In her welcoming remarks, Y.Bhg. Datin Rohayazam Kamaruzaman, the wife of the Malaysian Ambassador to the U.S., welcomed all invitees and highlighted that the AWC event was testimony to the close cooperation among ASEAN countries. Apart from video presentations of Cambodia, Laos and Singapore, the event also showcased two cultural performances from Cambodia, two from Laos and three from Malaysia. The ladies of Perwakilan WDC performed a Malaysian traditional costume parade, the Rampaian Malaysia welcome dance and the Malaysian Traditional Folk Dance called Joget Lambak. The performance was subsequently followed by a sumptuous buffet of Malaysian and other ASEAN cuisines. The Malaysian, Cambodian, Loatian and Singaporean Embassies also took the opportunity to display their respective traditional costumes as well as tourism materials in the foyer of the Embassy.
