BILATERAL MEETING BETWEEN PRIME MINISTER AND PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and President Donald J. Trump held a bilateral meeting on 26 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; on the sideline of the 47th ASEAN Summit and its Related Summits.
Both leaders announced the elevation of the Malaysia-United States Bilateral Relations from Comprehensive Partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), signifying the enduring depth of cooperation between both countries across strategic areas, particularly in trade and investment, advanced technology, defence and security, energy security, regional peace and stability, and people-to-people ties.
Numbers of significant documents were signed between both sides at the meeting, namely; the Framework Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), the MoU on Critical Minerals, the Peaceful Civil Space Exploration Artemis Accords and the MoU on Maritime Security Cooperation.
The United States is among Malaysia’s largest trading partners and biggest investors cumulatively. Total trade between the two nations was valued at RM324.91 billion (USD71.39 billion) in 2024.
