EMBASSY PICNIC, NOTTAWAY PARK, VIRGINIA, 9 MAY 2010

On Sunday, 9 May 2010, TYT Dato’ Sri Ambassador Jamaludin Jarjis hosted an Embassy Picnic at Nottaway Park, Virginia. The event, which lasted from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, was a token of TYT Ambassador’s appreciation to the Embassy staff for their contribution in ensuring the success of the recent visit of YAB Prime Minister to the U.S. from 11 to 16 April 2010. As many as 119 Embassy staff and family members attended the picnic. Thirteen games including tug of war, relay races and volleyball which involved the staff, spouses and children were organized and a wide assortment of snacks, salads, Malaysian and Western fare, barbeques and desserts were prepared. The spirit of “gotong royong” was alive and well, with everyone helping out in preparing the food, participating in the games, and helping in the packing and tidying up of Picnic Area 1 at the close of the event. The Embassy Picnic provided the opportunity for Embassy staff and their families to “let their hair down”, re-acquaint themselves with one another in a relaxed and casual atmosphere, as well as display their sporting acumen.
