FAREWELL RECEPTION FOR H.E. AMBASSADOR DATO' SRI DR. JAMALUDIN JARJIS AND Y.BHG. DATIN SRI DR. KALSOM ISMAIL, 18 JANUARY 2012
On 18 January 2012, the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington D.C. hosted a farewell reception in honor of His Excellency Dato' Sri Dr. Jamaludin Jarjis, Ambassador of Malaysia to the U.S. and Y.Bhg. Datin Sri Dr. Kalsom Ismail. His Excellency Dato' Sri Ambassador departed for Malaysia at the end of January 2012. The Guest of Honor for the evening was the Honorable Eni Faleomavaega, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific. Other guests included representatives from the diplomatic corps, U.S. State Department, Defense Department, USTR, staffers from the House and Senate, U.S.-ASEAN Business Council, Malaysia-America Society, think tanks and media. All those who spoke at the reception extended their praises to the Ambassador and his achievements during his tenure in Washington D.C.
In his farewell address, TYT Dato' Sri Ambassador highlighted his role in establishing the strategic engagement between the U.S. and Malaysia during his tenure as Ambassador. He also took the opportunity to inform that he would continue to play a role in further strenghthening Malaysia-U.S. bilateral relations in his capacity as Special Envoy of Malaysia to the U.S. and expressed his confidence that the excellent level of support and cooperation extended to him during his tenure as Ambassador would also be extended to his successor.
