RECEPTION AND GET TOGETHER
WITH DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA

The Chargé d’Affaires of Malaysia, Mr. Ilango Karuppannan hosted a dinner Reception and Get Together with YAB Deputy Prime Minister on 24 November 2008. YAB Deputy Prime Minister was on a transit in Washington, D.C. following his inaugural APEC meeting in Lima, Peru. YAB Deputy Prime Minister visited the “Art Treasures from the Embassy of Malaysia” at the Tun Dr. Ismail Hall where most of the paintings were exhibited to the public. The reception began with welcoming remarks by CDA a.i followed with YAB DPM’s address to the Malaysian community in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia areas.

The Chancery’s Grand Hall was packed with more than 150 Malaysians. The reception continued with a ‘Question and Answer’ session. YAB Deputy Prime Minister was very pleased with the positive turnout and the quality of questions posed by the guests. After dinner all the guests stood in line to personally greet YAB Deputy Prime Minister. The Embassy’s guests expressed appreciation and gratefulness in having an opportunity to interact with Malaysia’s next Prime Minister.

YAB Deputy Prime Minister and entourage departed Washington, D.C. on 26 November 2008. YAB Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Embassy officials and staff for the excellent efforts made for him and his entourage.
