The Consulate would like to advise you regarding this matter:

 

  1. Generally, it is advisable to always take steps to ensure personal safety, travel documents and property;

 

  1. Survey and find out about the hotel that you will be staying in Ho Chi Minh City or other provinces.  This will help raise awareness on security risks that might be.  Seek advice from your travel agents/ tour guides (if you have one) or even the hotel.  They have vested interest in order to ensure your safety and comfort;

 

  1. Be sure to have appropriate insurance coverage for travelling;

 

  1. Ensure that the passport and travel documents are stored safely.  In the event of loss of passport, Consulate General of Malaysia may issue an Emergency Certificate for you to travel back to Malaysia.  However, the Vietnamese Immigration requires Emergency Certificate holders to obtain an Exit Visas before departure from Vietnam.  The process of obtaining the Exit Visa will be time-consuming and will affect the schedules back home.  The required documents may be referred here; and
