VISA APPLICATION

Citizens of United Arab Emirates (UAE) do not require a visa to enter Malaysia for any social visit not exceeding 90 days. Citizens of United Arab Emirates who wish to enter Malaysia for any social visit exceeding 90 days or for any other purpose of visit are required to obtain a visa prior to their departure for Malaysia.

Citizens of Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, China, Columbia, Congo (Democratic Republic), Congo (Republic), Djibouti Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Hong Kong (C.I/D.I), Ivory Coast, Kosovo, Liberia, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Mali, Montenegro, Mozambique, Myanmar, Pakistan, Rwanda, Serbia, Sri Lanka and Western Sahara need a visa to enter Malaysia for any purpose of visit.

* Holders of Republic of India passports are eligible for visa-free entry into Malaysia until 31 December 2026

* Please note that all travellers are required to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online at least three (3) days prior to arrival. The MDAC form is available at: https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main

 

Application Requirements:

  1. Applications should be made at the Embassy in person.
  2. Applications are to be made using Form IM.47 and submitted along with the original and one (1) photocopy of each of the required documents.

Required Documents for Visitors Travelling to Malaysia for Social Visits:

  1. One (1) coloured passport-sized photograph (taken within the last three (3) months in the size of 3.5 cm x 5 cm with plain white or light blue background);
  2. Original and one (1) copy of Passport (must be valid for more than six (6) months from the proposed date of entry into Malaysia);
  3. Original and one (1) copy of Emirates ID card (EID) (must be valid at the time of application);
  4. A confirmed return ticket or onward ticket to third country;
  5. Visa Approval Letter (VAL) from the Immigration Department of Malaysia (for citizens of Afghanistan only); and
  6. Other documents to support application such as a confirmation of hotel booking in Malaysia, financial proof, e.g. bank certificate/bank statement over the past three (3) months/bank passbook/traveler’s cheques, invitation letter from relatives/friends in Malaysia, invitation letter to participate in a meeting, seminar or conference in Malaysia etc.

Required Documents for Visitors Whose Applications for Employment, Professional, Student or Dependant Passes Have Been Approved by The Immigration Department of Malaysia or Any Authorised Agency by The Government of Malaysia:

  1. One (1) coloured passport-sized photograph (taken within the last three (3) months in the size of 3.5 cm x 5 cm with plain white or light blue background);
  2. Original and one (1) copy of Passport (must be valid for more than six (6) months from the proposed date of entry into Malaysia);
  3. Original and one (1) copy of Emirates ID card (EID), except for UAE nationals (must be valid at the time of application); and
  4. Visa Approval Letter (VAL) from the Immigration Department of Malaysia or approval letter from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) or Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

Fees: Visa fee varies according to applicants’ nationality.

Processing Time: Three (3) working days

 

eVISA APPLICATION

eVisa is an online application platform that enable foreign nationals to apply for an electronic visa to enter Malaysia for the purpose of social visit/business/study/employment/medical treatment at the comfort of your convenience.

Information on passports that require a visa before entry, visa procedure (payment and documents to submit), and duration of visa validity will be available on the website.

To apply for an eVisa or log in to your existing eVisa account, please visit the official eVisa Portal at https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/ . Please be advised that applications submitted through the eVisa Portal are reviewed and processed solely by Immigration Malaysia.
