History
The diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Peru remain warm and cordial since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 24 April 1986. Malaysia established its Embassy in Lima in 1996 while Peru established its Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in 1992. The Embassy of Malaysia in Peru is also concurrently accredited to the Republic of Colombia, the Plurinational State of Bolivia and the Republic of Panama.
There are vast opportunities for both countries to expand the scope of bilateral relations as well as cooperation in the various multilateral fora on issues of common interests. Both countries are, among others, members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Forum for East Asia-Latin American Cooperation (FEALAC), Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and are signatories to Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
