Passport Application Guidelines

 

Important Information

The Malaysian International Passport is a valid travel document issued by the Malaysian Government for the purpose of traveling abroad. Malaysians residing overseas may apply for a new International Passport at any Malaysian Mission on the conditions:-

  • Holds a valid Malaysian International Passport
  • Return to Malaysia at least once every five years (not mandatory)
  • Submit application 6 months prior to expiration date 
  • Failure to comply with the requirement will delay the process
  • The Consulate General shall not be held responsible for any delays affecting you application or travel arrangement

MALAYSIAN INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPH SPECIFICATION

 

Photograph Requirements

  • Three (3) recent identical U.S. passport-sized photographs (2x2 inches)
  • Clear white background with no shadows
  • No dangling earrings
  • No hair accessories
  • No eyelash extensions
  • No glasses / contact lens
  • Dark-colored clothing covering shoulders and chest
  • Ears and eyebrows must be fully visible
  • Hair must not cover the forehead
  • Full-face view, directly facing the camera with a neutral facial expression
  • Both eyes open and mouth closed (no teeth showing)
  • No hats or head coverings that obscure hair or hairline, unless worn daily for religious purposes
  • Full face must remain visible
  • Head covering must not cast shadows on the face
  • Ensure sufficient space above the head (do not crop too closely to the hairline)
  • Photographs must be of good quality (not blurry)
  • (For men) No earrings, necklace, or any accessories
