High Commissioner Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin has taken up her appointment as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Canada in September 2021.  Previously, she served as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Ireland from 2017 to 2018.

 

High Commissioner Siti Hajjar joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. Throughout her 27 years in the Foreign Service, she has served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland (2008-2012) and two terms at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York including as Deputy Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations during Malaysia’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council in 2015-2016.  She also held several key positions in the Ministry such as Undersecretary of the Southeast Asia Division, Deputy Director of the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) and Undersecretary of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Division.

 

High Commissioner Siti Hajjar graduated with B.A (Hons) in International Relations from California State University Chico, USA.  She received her Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Schiller International University, Paris, France.

 

She is married with three children.
